Depth of Field
The depth of field considers how much of an individual image is in focus. An image with a strong depth of field would mean that the whole image is in focus, whereas a shallow depth of field would mean that one specific section of the image is in focus and the rest is blurred. Shallow depths of field are used to create a focal point in the image and this is usually when the photographer wants the viewer to focus on something that may connote an important meaning.
Here are my favourite images from this task:
For the first three images, I set up different mundane objects and put them different distances from the camera lens in order to keep some in focus, but make the others blurred. My favourite image is the third one due to how in focus the coffee is on the inside of the cup as the shallow depth of field draws the viewers eyes to this. The fourth picture was taken off some weeds outside and I decided to focus the camera on the greenery in the foreground this caused the background of the image to be blurred.
